28 year old Michigan native Brett Faustman won his first WPT event at the World Poker Open held at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, Mississippi on January 24th, 2008.
He beat out 258 other entrants and some of poker’s greatest players, taking home a cool $892,413.
The top five money earners were:

In the latest event on the march to the WSOP No-Limit Hold’em Championship (starting June 13) Jae “J.C. Chang conquered the 18th event in the WSOP Circuit at Grand Casino Tunica, completed January 19th. A $1,500 no-limit event, the win was worth $96,807 to J.C. in addition to a coveted WSOP gold ring. Heads-up against John “JMoney” Racener in the final deal and holding more than a 2 – 1 chip lead, J.C nevertheless had to get very lucky to avoid doubling up Racener. With pocket 7-5 and a flop of 5-3-2, Chang moved all-in with the top pair. Racener called and showed pocket 9s, a 4-1 favourite over Chang’s 5s. However at the river J.C. caught the 7 and his two pair ousted Racener, who failed to improve on either the turn or river.
