The list of players who were invited to compete in the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship has been released. The event takes place at Caesars Palace from Feb. 29-March 2.
Each player, except two players who will qualifiy through NHUPC promotions, will buy in for $20,000 and will play for the grand prize of $500,000. One player will qualify via an online qualifer on FullTiltPoker and another will qualify on PokerStars

Congratulations to Tim Vance, a player we’ll certainly be hearing from again at future EPT events.
After a nearly five-hour heads-up battle, 46-year-old Tim Vance from St. Louis, Missouri come away with his first major poker title.
“Yes! Yes! I did it, Nanzi!” cried Vance, as he looked lovingly at the photo of his three-year-old daughter that has been taped inside his red baseball hat for the duration of the tournament.
In addition to winning 6,220,488 DKK (over $1.2 million USD), Vance also earned a seat in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, which kicks off on April 11.
Runner-up Soren Jensen walked away with 3,521,429 DKK ($699,724 USD)
The next event in the European Poker Tour is the EPT Polish Open in Warsaw March 11-15, 2008

Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator, has week announced its 2008 Carnival PokerPro Challenge, a series of No Limit Texas Hold’em poker satellite tournaments taking place on dozens of “Fun Ship” voyages, culminating in a Grand Final Playoff during the Carnival Fantasy’s October 4, 2008 voyage.
The preliminary tournaments will be held on select cruises now through June 30, 2008 with winners of the preliminary tourneys facing off for a cash prize of $45,000 in the “Grand Final Playoff”.
Tournaments will be played on recently installed state-of-the-art automated PokerPro tables, which clearly and quickly display players’ commitments and table stakes, pot amount and community cards. PokerPro tables also identify the winners at the end of each hand and immediately add the winnings to the player’s table stakes.
Tournaments will be held on all voyages on the following ships from now through June 30, 2008 (with limited exceptions, as noted):

The 39th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP 2008) will take place at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada from may 30th to July 16th.
The Main Event - the World Championship No-Limit Texas Hold’Em - is a 13 day event beginning July 3rd 2008. You can win your seat to the WSOP 2008 Main Event by playing in one of hundreds of satellite tournaments offered by online poker rooms.

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - AsianLogic Ltd has entered into an agreement with Singapore based Capital Events Pte to acquire and take over the running of the Asian Poker Tour (APT).
Under the agreement, AsianLogic will manage the running of the APT’s online and land-based tournaments and control APT’s brand and URLs.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The PokerStars.com European Poker Tour German Open, held in Casino Hohensyburg, Dortmund, has been won by 18-year-old Canadian Mike “Timex” McDonald, making him the youngest ever victor on the tour. McDonald collected €933,600 for his victory over 410 opponents in the €8,000 buy-in event.
The former University of Waterloo student beat 26-year-old German Andreas Gülünay heads up with A-K versus 10-7. The Canadian flopped a pair and turned trips and sent Gülünay to the rail to collect €528,500 for second place.
McDonald recently made the final tables of three Aussie Millions events and won a €10,000 seat to the EPT grand final in Monte Carlo from April 12-17, 2008.
The final table payouts for EPT German Open, Dortmund, were:

2. Andreas Gülünay (Germany) — €528,500
